What is Confirmation?
Confirmation is the second sacrament of Christian Initiation. Through the gift of the Holy Spirit, the baptized are strengthened in their faith, more closely united to Christ, and equipped to live as His disciples. This sacrament completes the grace of Baptism and empowers us to witness to the Gospel through our words and actions.
Who is Confirmation for?
Confirmation is for baptized Catholics who have reached the appropriate age and are prepared to renew the promises made at their Baptism. Candidates should have received First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion before celebrating the Sacrament of Confirmation.
Preparation for Confirmation
Youth normally prepare for Confirmation during Grade 7 as part of their faith formation. Parents are encouraged to support and accompany their children throughout this important step in their journey of faith.
Older youth and adults who have not yet been confirmed are warmly welcomed and may prepare through OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults) or another parish formation program, depending on their circumstances.
